Technology has moved on since 2004 during development of the E60 M5.

Today, we're lucky to have companies like Infinity Auto Design still investing in keeping the S85 relevant, and on the cutting edge of naturally aspirated engine technology. 

Infinity revised the sealed intake design by using a double coned filter sandwich'ed between a lower housing and upper inlet tube. 

There are no rivets, nuts or screws - just a single clamp. 

Control the flow: enhance response & power

The sandwich'ed filter configuration allows the upper inlet tube to determine the air flow, and not the filter itself.

It reduces the air disruptions and smoothens out air flow, a critical element to improving CFM, and ultimately, throttle response & performance at speeds. 

The double coned filter is made from 3x layers of cotton and exclusively made to Infinity Auto Design's specifications in France. 

The upper inlet tube is unique in its design, featuring an integrate MAF housing unlike other aftermarket intake systems. The lower housing is designed to fit with the OEM front bumper duct elements, re-using the properly designed aerodynamics from BMW M. 

Real World Performance

While dyno graphs are fun to look at, proof is in real world performance. Using the Dragy GPS performance tracking system, I clocked multiple runs of 100-200 kph to truly evaluate the performance my V10 M5. 

My stage 1 tuned + sealed carbon intake equipped M5 with no other modifications clocked a best time of 8.7 seconds in S6 and starting in 3rd gear for 1 shift throughout the run. This was done on winter tires as well. 

A stock M5 V10 is around 9.5 sec 100 to 200 kph.

These are gains you can hear, feel, and monitor. 

Optimize materials: enhance sound and weight

From my personal experience, the V10 now growls at all RPM ranges. It needs it due to the sound & heat insulation panel under the hood. 

It uses 2x as much carbon as the next best carbon intake on the market thanks to its filter cover with integrated ducts. 

The carbon process used is the highest of quality: pre-preg carbon cured autoclave.

It is light, strong and a signature 2x2 weave pattern. 

The sealed air intakes have a thinner wall construction, enhancing the signature induction noises of the S85.

Installation Notes

I highly recommend combining with S85 DME Tuning for optimal performance. 
Compatible with OE Mass Air Flow sensors (MAF).  Plan 60 to 120 minutes for installation. No extra hardware needed.
