"In this entry, I test fit the caps for final production approval and compare fitment with the original body colored plastic caps."

The original plastics.
In the previous entry, I discussed the fitment qualities of the original M performance carbon caps over the original plastic units by comparing their material thickness.
In a nutshell: the carbon caps subjectively look and objectively fit better. How that translates to the real world is most often only understood by owners of the original carbon caps.
Below are examples showing how the original painted plastic caps fit on my E92 M3. My fitment has compromises - as is best seen on the side shot below.
Notes on plastic caps.
As a heads up, the outer edge' clips on my plastic mirrors are worn. Nonetheless, the thicker and rounded edges of properly fitting plastic caps will be noticeable on any E9x M3 with the probable exception of black colored cars.
The final test fit.
With expectations set, we test fitted the 1:1 carbon caps - hoorah.
The cap was aligned and pushed in. I could hear the metal clips grab onto the teeth of the plastic clips one by one. The cap needs to be pushed all the way in to achieve proper fitment all around.
I achieve proper fitment on the first attempt without having to remove the cap. If this is your first time, you might need a second try.
Overall, it was easy - and most importantly, fitment quality was impeccable across the outline of the housing. The pictures below speak for themselves.
The 1:1 carbon caps got my nod of approval.
I'm hopeful they will become the go-to quality option for E9x M3 and 1M owners looking for a proper OE+ quality alternative to the now discontinued originals.
They are now officially available to order here.
