Everywhere I want to go: it goes.
A teenage dream.

Back in 2012, I was shopping for an Interlagos Blue E60 M5 with plans to move to California.

Life circumstances changed my plans and I stayed in Canada.

The market has changed in a decade: good cars are getting rarer than ever and the market is as depressed as it's ever been.

I got my hands on one.

I have so much to say about how perfectly imperfect the V10 M5 is.

The automotive equivalent of “cocaine and hookers”.

Welcome to my build journal.

My latest entries

In this entry, we go through pre-flight checks, and we start up the S85-002 for the first time. I documented our process, the first impressions along with the final installation of the CSL Competition Carbon Plenum.
In this entry, the S85-001 gets pulled, undressed and gifts some of its parts to the 002. Some are replaced, some are restored, some are upgraded. This is part 1 of 2 documenting the swap process
In this entry, new dishes get put in. We fit the new valvetrain package, finally bolt in the Schrick cams and we go through the VANOS re-timing protocols.
In this entry, the dishes get pulled. Nearly the entire OEM valvetrain gets removed. I take detours to discuss technicalities of hydraulic lifters, and the mechanism of a valve assembly.
In this entry, we finally get the S85-002 on a stand and get to work. The last accessories are removed, the V10 is drained and we turn it over to start with the obvious: connecting rod bearings - with a new twist.

2006 E60 M5 SMG3

My E60 M5 is a MY2006 produced for the Canadian market. It is finished in Sepang Bronze Metallic and is equipped with the SMG3 hydraulic transmission.

The car was heavily optioned with Adaptive Sport Seats, Alcantara headliner and other signature features of the E60 M5.

The interior is unfortunately fitted in Walnut Wood trims but is atleast finished in Merino Black leather.

The E60 life.
