Everywhere I want to go: it goes.
A teenage dream.

Back in 2012, I was shopping for an Interlagos Blue E60 M5 with plans to move to California.

Life circumstances changed my plans and I stayed in Canada.

The market has changed in a decade: good cars are getting rarer than ever and the market is as depressed as it's ever been.

I got my hands on one.

I have so much to say about how perfectly imperfect the V10 M5 is.

The automotive equivalent of “cocaine and hookers”.

Welcome to my build journal.

Current status.

My latest entries

In a true echo to the V10 M5 ethos, this Build Journal entry has best reflected a 3 months cycle of lows and highs with my E60.

I cover the initial tuning tests, the tuning dilemma of the OE+ variant of the plenum, my AlphaN realization and chat on MAF map compatibility.

I cover my unboxing impressions and take a dive into the final tuning made on my pre-production unit that have made their way onto the production versions.
Following up on the initial failure on fitting the BBS wheels, I faced new challenges, failures and ultimately took a step back to rethink my approach and fine tune the 20" BBS CHR fitment. I include the final specs table for you to base your fitment decisions.
After chasing and achieving superior powertrain response with the S65 DCT, this is my road map to transfering some of these learnings to the S85 SMG3.

2006 E60 M5 SMG3

My E60 M5 is a MY2006 produced for the Canadian market. It is finished in Sepang Bronze Metallic and is equipped with the SMG3 hydraulic transmission.

The car was heavily optioned with Adaptive Sport Seats, Alcantara headliner and other signature features of the E60 M5.

The interior is unfortunately fitted in Walnut Wood trims but is atleast finished in Merino Black leather.

The E60 life.
