The Papi Express.
2006 E60 M5 SMG
Everywhere I want to go: it goes.
A teenage dream.

Back in 2012, I was shopping for an Interlagos Blue E60 M5 with plans to move to California. Life circumstances changed my plans and I stayed in Canada. Ended up getting an E92 M3 and forgetting about the V10.

The market has changed in a decade: good cars are getting rarer than ever and the market is as depressed as it's ever been.

I got my hands on one.

I have so much to say about how perfectly imperfect the V10 M5 is.

The automotive equivalent of “cocaine and hookers”.

Buy one.
Let the money flow.
Smile because it happened.

I'm hoping to cast a better light on the E60 M5.

Welcome to my build journal.

Hear it.

My E60 M5 is a MY2006 produced for the Canadian market. It is finished in Sepang Bronze Metallic and is equipped with the SMG3 hydraulic transmission.

The car was heavily optioned with Adaptive Sport Seats, Alcantara headliner and other signature features of the E60 M5.

The interior is unfortunately fitted in Walnut Wood trims but is atleast finished in Merino Black leather.

I take you through experiences with E60 M5: it's currently my daily driver. I know, that's crazy.

The engineers at BMW M developed a prototype in short order, and didn't consider the real world implications of their design.

The engineering team at Infinity Design is tackling this development project with a singular focus.

Bye bye Papiwood: we're pulling the wrinkles back and going back to the future. OEM level quality carbon fiber interior trims for the E60 M5 are here (nearly).

Get behind the scenes.
