Massively enlarged sealed intake inlets

Current owners of sealed intakes will be able to solely upgrade the inlets. The lower housing, filter element and clamp stays the same.

The core of OE+ variant plenum stays the same, but new side inlets are fitted.

[...] and shorter velocity stacks will be tested for high RPM performance.

They will be CNC machined instead of the carbon trumpets on the OE+ variant.

Stage Tuning

Tuning is often offered in "stages" that optimize for your peripheral performance upgrades.

Here's how Sal defines his stages. 

Stage 1:

Standard cars. I highly recommend the sealed air intakes

Stage 2:

Optimized for primary cat deletes & aftermarket long tube headers.

Stage 3:

Optimized for V3 long-tube, equal length headers.

Extra specifications available: 

  • Raised RPM limit to 8500rpm
  • Idle RPM adjustments
  • VMax Limit removal
  • Cold start delete
  • Power calibrations with changes made to ignition, fuel, torque and VANOS maps

Mandatory AlphaN mapping

The massive increase in air volume requires Alpha N performance tuning.

The larger inlets will not have MAF bungs to optimize for space.

A new pair Intake Air Temperature sensors will be required and included along with the wiring and connectors.

No! However, Sal and I are looking to see if a tune can be optimized for the larger air volume. TBD.

Reimagining the original BMW CSL prototype.

The CSL Plenum OE+ variant introduced in 2022 was a first steps towards bringing to market the first commercially available V10 CSL carbon intake system.

A few of us wanted more. We wanted the original.

The Competition Spec aims at achieving this objective with a massively enlarged, fully sealed, complete carbon intake system running exclusively on AlphaN.

In this Special Series, I build upon the original series and dive into the development, test fitment and upcoming impressions of the Competiiton variant.

As a former Evolve co-owner, he headed engineering & development for all products.

He notably signed off on numerous popular V10 products: e-tronic exhaust systems, headers, cat deletes, carbon intakes along with the V8 supercharger kits & tuning maps during the 2000s until he exited the company in 2015.
