V10 M5 & M6 Carbon Driveshaft

Swipe right for info.

It's 15 lbs lighter.

The carbon driveshaft weights 12.34 lbs for the SMG3.

It's vibration free.

The 1 piece design retains the use of the flex disc on the transmission output shaft, a critical component to remaining street friendly.

It's stronger.

The  tube is is winded from pre-preg carbon fiber and can sustain up to 4000 ft lbs / 5500nm of torque.

It can still flex.

The CV differential flange is telescopic, oiled and heat treated, helping to absorb drivetrain shock in hard driving conditions.

Installation Kits

I have curated installation kits with the recommended hardware for properly fitting the M5/6 V10 carbon driveshaft.

BUILD JOURNAL
The fix is in.

The SMG3 was peak something. It got overshadowed by the MDCT and most enthusiasts gave up on it.

I doubled down.

In this Special Series, I chat about what makes the SMG3 the best of its time and atrocious per current standards.

I unbox and cover the design features of the carbon driveshaft and document the install procedures. Lastly, I recorded a few videos to support my driving impressions.

Cheers,
- Matt
