The SMG3 was peak something. It got overshadowed by the MDCT and most enthusiasts gave up on it.
I doubled down.
In this Special Series, I chat about what makes the SMG3 the best of its time and atrocious per current standards.
I unbox and cover the design features of the carbon driveshaft and document the install procedures. Lastly, I recorded a few videos to support my driving impressions.
Cheers,

The tube length was adjusted between the transmission types and chassis configurations.

The installation of the YFCM carbon driveshaft was straight forward with no modifications required. It has mission-critical validation steps.

Each driveshaft is individually tested on YFCM's proprietary machine. They are spun to over 8000rpm as a complete assembly.

The flange is a self-locking, sealed design: it locks over the carbon tube. It eliminates all probabilities for the tube to spin free of the flange, no matter the torque.
